Dear friends, Time marches on and here we are mid-summer 2014, already!  I spent most of the winter finishing a 20″x16″ painting of leaves and rocks as though I was looking down while walking along a mountain trail.  That perspective was an interesting challenge, to be sure.  Not sure why leaves hold such a fascination for me but I find myself being called back to painting them over and over.  My exercise machine, which sits next to my easel , is continually draped with branches with aspen leaves, cottonwood  specimens, and even a maple leaf or two, that I have dragged home from various forays along trails around my studio.   I find the colors exquisite,...

Summer Painting News

Summer Rain 24″ x 12″ Welcome to Summer!  This painting is certainly about wishful thinking right now as  our hearts are with those impacted by the forest fire west of Fort Collins.  Even from my mountain home many miles to the south I can see its haze drifting over our hills.  Last week, it was also hard to watch the news of golf ball sized hail and tornado sightings, of all things!, over my favorite painting sites and homes of  friends in Elbert County.  It has been a wild month!
